Hey, hey! It’s our Sports Announcer, Rich Ray! Yeah, it sounds funny but it’s okay, because Rich is used to hearing cheers.
Rich has eleven- count ‘em- eleven years of radio broadcasting experience, including calling every high school and college sports
game you can imagine. He’s a 1990 Blair High graduate that picked up the radio bug at Kearney State College. He’s worked
the airwaves in Columbus and braved the Nordic plains of South Dakota to work at a station in Madison, don’t cha ya know. He
even graced KHUB for a brief time in 1995 but left, apparently long enough to dig himself out of 40 foot snowdrifts in Madison and
return to KHUB in 1998. Like we mentioned earlier, the man is a machine when it comes to calling sports. He’s called over
1,500 games and uttered his signature phrase “Jumping catfish!” only when necessary. If you want to hear an accurate play by
play of a Fremont High, Bergan or Midland Lutheran College game, you will hear it through the voice of Rich. Sports isn’t his
only passion though. He’s the General Manager for the semi-pro baseball team, the Fremont Generals and he recently was chosen as the
Fremont Noon Optimist Club’s President-elect. In July of 2005, he decided to spread his marketing wings, which landed him at Midland
Lutheran College as the Sports Marketing Director. We grudgingly share him with them.
He has two adorable boys, Brock, who is
five and is in kindergarten soon and Jacob, who is 3 and enjoys digging in the dirt and scaring the pants off Dad when he
finds it necessary to show him the snakes he’s found. Of course, we believe the better half is his wife Stacy.
